Event Information
The Run for the Roses 5K is a 5K race in Raleigh, North Carolina. It will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The event is described as one of the oldest 5Ks in the Triangle area and is its 45th annual edition.
Location
The race takes place at the Walnut Creek Athletic Complex, located at 1201 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh, NC, 27610.
Registration and Fees
Registration fees are structured as follows:
- $40 until midnight on February 1, 2026, which includes a guaranteed race shirt.
- $45 until race day.
- A special rate of $20 is available for all entrants under 18 years old.
Early packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 2-6 PM at Fleet Feet Raleigh in the Ridgewood Shopping Center.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Age group awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in the following categories: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Medals are also awarded to the top three finishers in the 14 and under youth category.
A two-person team competition (one male and one female) is offered with no additional fee. The top three teams with the fastest combined times receive a gift card to a local restaurant.
Charity and Community
The event raises money for two charitable organizations: Four Paws NC, which trains service dogs for veterans, and Team Red, White and Blue NC, which connects veterans to their community through physical and social activity. A portion of the race proceeds is donated to these charities.
Additional Activities
The event includes family-oriented activities such as face painting and balloon animals. Separate children's events are held, including a 100-meter dash for children 6 and under and a 400-meter dash for children aged 6-10. All children participating receive a completion medal. The event also collects pet food donations for the Wake County SPCA and other animal rescue organizations.
Course and Participation Notes
The course includes portions that are off-road and on gravel. The event is jogging stroller-friendly and dog-friendly, provided dogs are kept on a leash. Event timing is provided by Run The East, LLC. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
