Willow Spring High School Turkey Trot
Willow Spring High School holds an annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. The event includes a USATF-certified 5K course that starts and finishes on the school track and follows a loop around campus, down the Park-Depot Greenway Trail, and into the South Lakes neighborhood.
There are several race options:
- 5K (Competitive Run, 30 minute time limit)
- 5K (Family Fun Run; includes walkers and strollers; currently full)
- 400 m (Kids Fun Run, 9 and under)
- 50 m (Diaper Dash, 4 and under)
The Kids Fun Run and Diaper Dash occur on the school track. The Competitive 5K enforces a 30 minute maximum time limit. Awards for the Competitive 5K include overall top three and the top two in each age group; awards are given following the Competitive 5K. The course record holder receives a free entry.
All participants receive a medal at the end of their race. Participants in the Competitive 5K or the Family Fun 5K who register before October 24 receive a t-shirt; registrations after that date do not guarantee a shirt. Proceeds benefit the schools' Cross Country Teams, Track Teams and Sports Boosters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
