Leesville Community Turkey Trot
The Leesville Community Turkey Trot is the major fundraiser for the Murphy Scholarship program and features a USATF certified 5K held on local neighborhood roads in Raleigh, NC (12201 New Leesville Blvd, 27613). The scholarship was founded in 2011 to recognize graduating seniors and support incoming students.
The course is wheelchair, dog and stroller friendly. Roads are not closed for the event; course monitors and a police presence will be on site and participants should yield to motorized and nonmotorized vehicles. A certified course map is available.
Registration is handled in advance and on race day only if the event is not sold out. Pre-registration is encouraged for those who wish to receive an official time; race day registrants may not receive an official time. The posted registration fee for the 5K is $20.00.
To have an official time recorded, participants must wear their race number pinned securely on the front midsection. Wearing the number as directed is taken as consent for official results to be posted publicly, including gender identification designation. The event also provides volunteer opportunities and serves as an informal reunion for Leesville alumni and families. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
