Freedom Ride Rescue Turkey Day 5K
The event is a Thanksgiving Day community run and walk in Garner, North Carolina, held around White Deer and Lake Benson Parks near 2400 Aversboro Rd, Garner NC 27529. The course routes use relatively flat paved trails with some gravel and dirt sections through park scenery.
Race options include:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
Virtual participants may upload times but are not included in awards. The virtual entry price includes shipping of race shirts to the continental United States or local delivery and pick up where available.
The organizer permits well socialized dogs on a 6-foot or shorter leash; retractable leashes are not permitted. Thanksgiving themed costumes, decorated wagons, strollers, and baby joggers are welcome.
Registration opens April 28, 2026. Fees listed for event options are $25 for the 5K, $15 for the 1 Mile Fun Run, and $20 for the Virtual 5K; registration closes in early August 2026 for these options.
Historical notes: the first year was capped at 500 participants and sold out, and the event had over 1000 registrations in 2025. For the 10th annual edition organizers aim to set a new registration record. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
