Run for the Gecko 5K
The Run for the Gecko 5K takes place on May 9, 2026. It is offered as an in-person 5K Run/Walk and a virtual 5K. The event location for the in-person race is Wickham Park Community Center, 2815 Leisure Way, Melbourne, FL 32935. Registration opens January 14, 2026. Entry fees listed are $35 for adults and $20 for ages 0-12; entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Each event shows 1,000 spots available.

Logistics, amenities and awards
Early packet pickup is available at Running Zone, 3696 N. Wickham Rd, on May 7, May 8 and May 9. Race day packet pickup and late registration are offered at Wickham Park Community Center. Participant amenities include birthday cupcakes for finishers, tri-blend shirts for participants (not guaranteed after April 10), free beer for those 21 and older, a Li'l Gecko Kid's Run, and a random $500 gift card giveaway. There are discounts for opting out of a shirt or medal.
Awards include top 3 overall male and female, top masters (40+), age-group awards (top 3 male and female across brackets from 8 & under up to 80+), top 3 fastest teams (minimum five members, must be co-ed), and the top 3 schools with the largest participation.
