Wild Turkey Trot 3K
The Wild Turkey Trot 3K is an annual running and walking event held at the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida. Participants follow a course that winds through the zoo grounds, passing various animal habitats and native plant life. The event is organized by Smooth Running and benefits the Brevard Zoo.
Registration is available for two formats:
- 3K road race through the zoo grounds
- Virtual 3K race option for remote participation
The physical race has a one-hour time limit from the moment a participant starts the course. Hydration stations providing water and Gatorade are positioned along the route as well as at the start and finish lines. All finishers receive a turkey-themed medal and a commemorative running hat. Top finishers in the overall male and female categories, as well as the youth division for ages 11 and under, receive prizes.
Registered participants are eligible for a 50 percent discount on zoo admission during the Thanksgiving weekend by presenting their race bib. While the event takes place on Thanksgiving morning, the zoo itself remains closed for regular business on that day.
