MikeyStrong Fun Run / Walk
The MikeyStrong Fun Run / Walk is a memorial event held in Indialantic, Florida, at the Mikey Goodwin Playground in James H. Nance Park. The event takes place across two days in late November 2026 and uses a beach course for at least some of the running and walking routes.
The program includes multiple event options and a youth race:
- 5 km on-site fun run and virtual 5K
- Mikey's Turkey Dash short run for kids 12 and under
The event commemorates a young student athlete who was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). Organizers describe DIPG as a type of brain tumor found in the pons, an area of the brainstem that affects breathing, sleep, bladder control, balance, and other functions. The description notes that DIPG is a serious pediatric brain tumor with no current cure and that it can cause rapid loss of neurological abilities.
Proceeds from the event support DIPG research and direct assistance to families. The Mikey Strong Foundation and associated efforts have established a research fund, report donating thousands to local and national support organizations, and state that the majority of funds raised are redirected to research and family assistance. The organizing group is volunteer-run and reports that a high percentage of funds collected are donated to these causes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
