Run 906
Run 906 is a running event scheduled for the Sunday before Labor Day in Saint Ignace, Michigan. Organized by the Yooper Running Company, the race is designed to celebrate the local 906 area code. The event features a single distance:
- 9.06 km
The course is located at Bridge View Park, situated immediately west of the Mackinac Bridge on the north side of the bridge. The route follows Boulevard Drive, which consists of hard-packed limestone gravel with occasional potholes. Participants head west for 4.53 km before turning around to return to the finish line. The course provides views of the Mackinac Bridge and the surrounding water in both directions.
Participants cross under a large inflatable arch in a grassy section of the park to start and end the race. An aid station providing water and Gatorade is located at the turnaround point. After the race, refreshments such as water, Gatorade, juice boxes, chips, fruit snacks, bananas, and cookies are provided.
All finishers receive a medal. Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers, as well as winners in the Masters (40+) and Grand Masters (60+) categories. Unique awards are also given to the first-place finisher in age groups ranging from under 9 to over 80. Timing is conducted using chip transponders attached to bibs. Parking is available for free in a grass lot at Bridge View Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
