Moie Brown Memorial Run for the Health of It
The Moie Brown Memorial Run for the Health of It is an annual community event held in St. Ignace and presented by First National Bank of St. Ignace. The event honors the legacy of a local hospital and community supporter, with all proceeds benefiting the Mackinac Straits Health System and Evergreen Living Center. The in-person races take place on the Mackinac Straits Health System campus and include a Color Run theme.
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 10k Run (6.2 miles)
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 5K Walk (3.1 miles)
- Virtual 10K & 5K
The 5K course starts at the hospital and follows North State Street and North Airport Road, passing a local airport and a small hill. The route then turns onto South Airport Road, heading downhill back toward the hospital and looping around Evergreen Living Center to the finish line. The 10K course follows the same initial route before extending onto Reagon Street, Lemotte Street, and Cheeseman Road for a turnaround section. The course is marked by standing signs, painted road markers, and volunteers.
Registered participants receive a commemorative T-shirt or long-sleeve shirt and a finisher's medal. Custom awards, handcrafted by the LaSalle High School Woodshop class, are presented to overall male and female finishers and winners in age categories ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over. On-site amenities include root beer floats for all participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
