Rothwell Cakeathon - Leeds trail event
Rothwell Cakeathon is a trail running event based at Leeds Skelton Lake Services, M1 Junction 45, Skelton, Leeds LS9 0AS (what3words: ///vivid.larger.erase). The venue is a motorway service station with environmental features including a rooftop bird hide. All on-site facilities are available to runners and free parking is provided. Car sharing is encouraged and competitors are asked to follow marshal instructions.
The event offers multiple distances:

- Half Marathon
- 20 Mile
- Marathon
The course is mixed terrain and includes woodland trails, riverside paths, open grass sections, hard-packed trail and countryside views. The event is fully supported with regular water and feed stations approximately every three miles, plus sweet and savoury snacks, experienced marshals and a bespoke finisher medal. Cakes are provided at the finish.
Operational and safety notes: the event is cup-free so runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle for feed stations. Large over-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conducting headphones are allowed and in-ear headphones are permitted one in, one out. There may be unmanned road crossings. Races are licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA Rules. Transfers can be self-managed via the organiser's website and deferrals close one week before race day.
