Heights Ultra Trail

Heights Ultra Trail is a charity running festival held in the Colne Valley area of Huddersfield. The event is scheduled for September 2026 and is organised to raise funds for local rural primary schools. All races start and finish at Colne Valley High School, Gillroyd Lane, Linthwaite, Huddersfield HD7 5SP.

The festival offers a range of distances:

  • 50 miles
  • 50 km
  • 27 km
  • 10 km
  • 1.4 km junior fun run

Routes use mixed trail, technical ground and open moorland and include sections of the Pennine Way. Waymarking varies by race: the 10 km is heavily marked, longer routes are waymarked from about 3.5 km and red flags mark open moor sections. Entry to the longer events includes a full colour waterproof map; a map for the 27 km can be bought on the day for £8. Mobile phones must not be used for navigation and competitors are asked to download the what3words app.

The two ultra events are tracked with live timing and the 27 km and 10 km are chip timed. Feed stations and checkpoints provide a range of food and drink, and some surplus perishables will be donated to a local foodbank. Transport advice includes bus services 181 and 183 and the nearest train station at Slaithwaite. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
