Heights Ultra Trail
Heights Ultra Trail is a charity trail running festival scheduled for 5 September 2026 at Colne Valley High School, Gillroyd Lane, Linthwaite, Huddersfield HD7 5SP. The event raises funds for local rural primary schools and presents a set of circular trail routes through moorland and mixed terrain in Yorkshire.
Distances on the day include:
- 50 miles
- 50 km
- 27 km
- 10 km
- Junior Fun Run 1.4 km
The two ultra events (50 mile and 50 km) are tracked timed events with live timing available; the 27 km and 10 km are chip timed. Entry for the 50 mile and 50 km includes a full colour waterproof map; a map for the 27 km can be purchased on the day. Routes are waymarked but navigation ability is advantageous; signage for the longer routes starts around 3.5 km and the final 4 km of all courses is heavily marked.
There are multiple checkpoints and feed stations offering food and drinks, plus additional water-only stations at Holme Moss transmitter car park and Berry Greave. The event operates a cupless policy; participants must carry their own water container or mug.
Mandatory kit requirements differ by distance. For the 50 mile and 50 km this includes waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat and gloves, water container or mug, compass and whistle, torch and spare batteries (torch required for 50 mile), bivy bag, mobile phone with what3words, and money. The 27 km requires a waterproof jacket or warm layer, water container, suitable trail shoes, and a mobile phone for emergencies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
