Heights Ultra Trail (HUT Fest) 2026
Heights Ultra Trail is a charity trail running festival held in the Colne Valley near Huddersfield, based at Colne Valley High School (HD7 5SP). The event offers a range of trail distances that use local moorland, reservoirs and Pennine paths, and supports local rural primary schools.
Routes are waymarked with HUT signage, arrows and flags; ultra entries receive a waterproof route map. Open moorland sections require awareness and basic navigation skills, and the final 4 km back to the finish is heavily marked. Checkpoints and feed stations along the routes provide sandwiches, fruit, cakes, hot food, hot and cold drinks, and energy options, with named locations including Holme Village, Wessenden Head and Clough Head.
Transport notes include main parking at the event centre with overflow parking about 100 m away. The nearest railway station is Slaithwaite, with a short bus connection or a 1.8 mile walk; bus routes 181 and 183 stop near the venue.
For 50 mile and 50 km entrants the event mandates specific kit such as waterproof clothing, long sleeve top, hat and gloves, water container or mug (cupless event), compass and whistle, bivy bag, mobile phone for emergency use and money; a torch is required for the 50 mile event. Kit checks take place at the start and finish and failure to carry mandatory kit can lead to disqualification.
Event photography will be available for optional purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
