Heights Ultra Trail
The Heights Ultra Trail is a charity running festival held in the rugged landscapes of Yorkshire. Starting and finishing at Colne Valley High School in Linthwaite, Huddersfield, the event raises funds for local rural primary schools. The courses transition through technical ground, open moorland, and sections of the Pennine Way, showcasing the natural beauty of the region.
Participants can choose from five distinct distances:
- 50 miles (The Scammonden)
- 50 km (The Ramsden)
- 27 km (The Wessenden)
- 10 km (The Blackmoorfoot)
- 1.4 km (Junior Fun Run)
The event is cupless, requiring participants to carry their own water containers or mugs. For the 50 mile and 50 km ultra distances, a mandatory kit list is enforced for safety, including waterproof clothing, a bivy bag, and a whistle. Entry for these ultra distances includes a bespoke waterproof map to assist with navigation. The 10 km and 1.4 km courses are heavily waymarked with arrows and supported by marshals.
The festival atmosphere includes planned activities to entertain families while runners are on the course. Aid stations are situated along the routes, providing various food options such as sandwiches, fruit, cakes, and hot soup. The venue is accessible via public transport with bus links from Huddersfield Bus Station and nearby rail services at Slaithwaite. Professional photographers are stationed throughout the course to capture participants during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
