Heights Ultra Trail HUTFEST26
The Heights Ultra Trail HUTFEST26 is a charity trail running festival held at Broad Oak Cricket Club in Linthwaite, Huddersfield. The event takes place in the Colne Valley and uses local moorland, reservoirs and Pennine trails.
Races and community activities are combined on the day. Distances include:
- 50 Mile Ultra Trail
- 50 km Ultra Trail
- 27 km Trail Run
- 10 km Trail Run
- 2 km Junior fun run
- 0.5 km Tots fun run
The event supports local rural primary schools and raises funds for local rescue services. Organisers reserve 15 free places for active Search and Rescue members.
Routes are waymarked with signage, arrows and flags; signage for longer routes begins at about 3.5 km and the final 4 km are heavily marked. Ultra entries include a waterproof route map. Open moorland sections require basic navigation awareness.
Mandatory kit for the 50 mile and 50 km events is required and will be checked at the start and finish; required items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, long sleeve top, hat and gloves, water container or mug, compass and whistle, bivy bag, mobile phone and money, plus a torch for the 50 mile event. Failure to carry mandatory kit leads to disqualification.
Checkpoints and feed stations provide sandwiches, fruit, cakes, hot food and hot and cold drinks. Main parking is available at the event centre; the nearest station is Slaithwaite with bus connections and local bus routes 181 and 183 serve the venue. All events are licensed by the TRA under UKA rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
