Heights Ultra Trail (HUT Fest) 2026
Heights Ultra Trail (HUT Fest) is a charity trail running festival held on Saturday 5 September 2026 at Colne Valley High School, Linthwaite, Huddersfield. The event features multiple distances that run across Yorkshire moorland, reservoirs, and Pennine trails and supports local rural primary schools.
Race distances include:
- 50 Mile Ultra Trail
- 50KM Ultra Trail
- 27KM Trail Run
- 10KM Trail Run
For the 50 Mile and 50KM events, runners must carry mandatory kit: a waterproof jacket with taped seams, waterproof trousers, long sleeve top, hat and gloves, a water container or mug (cupless event), compass and whistle, a bivy bag (foil blankets not sufficient), a mobile phone for emergency use only (no GPS navigation), money, and a torch for the 50 Mile. Kit checks take place at the start and finish; failure to carry required items can lead to disqualification.
Routes are waymarked with HUT signage, arrows, and flags, and ultra entries include a waterproof route map. Open moorland sections require basic navigation awareness; signage typically starts around 3.5 km on longer routes and the final 4 km is heavily marked.
Facilities at the event village include family activities, food and post-race provisions. Checkpoints and feed stations offer sandwiches, fruit, cakes, hot food, hot and cold drinks, and energy options at locations such as Holme Village, Wessenden Head, and Clough Head. Main parking is at the event centre with overflow parking about 100 m away. Professional photographers operate on course and at the finish with optional purchases.
