Leeds Country Way In A Day 100km
The Leeds Country Way In a Day 100km is a full circuit of the city of Leeds following the local LCW footpaths. The route is approximately 100 km / 62 miles and visits neighbouring towns, villages, parks and nature reserves while remaining no more than seven miles from Leeds City Square. Much of the route is rural and offers views into the West and North Yorkshire countryside.
Terrain is roughly 80% trail and 20% road or tarmac; weather can change underfoot conditions significantly. The route follows public rights of way, including footpaths, bridleways and minor lanes, with only a few short road sections. The Leeds Country Way is waymarked with an owl symbol and all competitors are provided with a GPX file; runners are responsible for navigating the course and should use the GPX as a backup to the markers.
Checkpoint locations include CP1 Wike Lane (21 km), CP2 Garforth (43 km), CP3 TBC (62 km), CP4 Woodkirk (77 km) and CP5 Pudsey (89 km). There is a cut-off at CP3; full checkpoint opening details will be posted in advance. Water and snacks are available at checkpoints, a small returnable drop bag is permitted at the halfway checkpoint, and toilets are available at the start, finish and in many towns along the route.
Mandatory kit includes a phone or watch with the GPX route, headtorch, waterproof jacket, warm hat or wrap and capacity for 1 litre of water. Pacers and crew are permitted, with rules on equipment carriage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
