Event Overview
The Gingerbread Lane 5K & 10K takes place at Oak Point Park in Plano, Texas. This festive holiday race utilizes the area's parks and greenbelts, featuring courses primarily on paved trails with potential sections of crushed granite or dirt paths. The event is organized by the Bigfoot Running Company and includes a variety of running segments and seasonal activities.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- 10k Run (6.22 miles) - Chip timed
- 5k Run (3.11 miles) - Chip timed
- 1 Mile Run - Not chip timed
- Kids Dash - Approximately 50 meters for ages 10 and under
- Virtual Run
Competition and Atmosphere
The race includes a holiday-themed costume contest where participants can compete for prizes based on creativity. High energy is maintained throughout the event with a DJ playing holiday music and announcing runners as they finish. Aid stations are positioned along the course to provide water and assistance. After the race, refreshments such as holiday cookies and milk are available at the race rally tent.
Awards and Recognition
All finishers across all distances receive a holiday-themed race shirt and a commemorative medal. The 5K and 10K events feature first-place overall trophies for male and female runners, as well as masters category recognition pins. Standard age group awards are provided for the timed distances in various brackets. The Kids Dash participants receive a shirt, medal, and an exclusive recognition pin.
