Plano Turkey Trot, Plano TX
The Plano Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving morning run held at Oak Point Park with the start and finish at the Red Tail Pavilion south parking lot (2801 E Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX). The event offers an in person 5K and a kids dash plus a virtual category. The 5K course is entirely on paved path or street and toilets are available at the start and finish. All water stations provide water and there is no gear check on site.
The run is chip timed with a posted course time limit of 1 hour 20 minutes for the 5K. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group. Age categories include 10 & Under, 11-14, 15-19, then five year spans from 20-24 through 65-69, and 70 plus.
Packet pickup options include mailed packets for a fee, pre event pickup locations, or event morning pickup with an expected short wait. Participant gear choices include a classic t shirt or an upgraded thin tec soft polyester pullover. Purchased finisher medals and uncollected gear may incur mailing fees. The event permits headphones with caution, allows strollers for walkers and joggers in the back of the starting area, and does not allow dogs.
The race supports The Source of Hope nonprofit and participates in the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run Walk with results eligible for the national leaderboard. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
