The event features a variety of distances held primarily on paved trails, though participants may encounter mixed surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt paths. The course routes navigate through local park landscapes, including areas with lakes and trees.
The event offers several participation options:

- 5k Run (3.11 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)

Specific recognition is provided for different categories. The 5k, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed. These distances include overall trophies for female and male winners, as well as awards across various age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.
A central feature of the event is a costume contest where participants are judged on creativity and authenticity related to the Dia de los Muertos theme. On-course support includes aid stations providing water. Following the race, a celebration is held at a rally tent featuring live music, refreshments, and a DJ. Registered participants receive a shirt and a finisher medal, with shirt sizes guaranteed for those registered at least ten days before the event.
