RMRR September Trophy Series
The Rocky Mountain Road Runners host the September edition of their monthly Trophy Series in Thornton, Colorado. This event provides a low-cost racing environment located at the Riverdale Ballfields. Participants can choose between two race distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The 10 km race utilizes a unique handicap start system where participants begin in waves from slowest to fastest over a period of approximately 30 minutes. Each runner is assigned a specific start time based on their estimated finish time, allowing participants of various speeds to compete for a win on equal footing. Runners in the 5 km category start together approximately 15 minutes after the first 10 km participants have departed.
The course for both distances consists of an out-and-back route. The terrain is a combination of paved surfaces and smooth gravel. The venue at 9830 Riverdale Road offers ample parking for all attendees within the park area.
