Rivington Duathlon
Rivington Duathlon is a run-bike-run multi-sport event held in the West Pennine Moors around Rivington on 14 March 2027. The race base is at Rivington & Blackrod High School, Rivington Lane, Bolton, Lancashire BL6 7RU, with free parking available.
Distances include:
- Run: 5.6 km (two run sections on trail paths)
- Bike: 37.2 km road loop
The opening and closing runs start on the road beside the school and follow mainly off-road trail paths toward Rivington Pike before returning to the transition area. The trails have mixed, uneven terrain and are clearly signed with marshals positioned along the route.
The bike leg is a single road loop from the school, featuring climbs such as Sheep House Lane, descents into Belmont Village, and quieter roads through Abbey Village, Limbrick and Grimeford before returning to transition. The route is fully signed and marshalled; riders are advised to take care at key turns, descents and narrower sections through Brinscall and Withnell.
Entry categories are solo (£49) and team (£95), each subject to a small administration fee. Included with entry are aid stations, a custom finishers medal, electronic timing, a fully signed route, and free photos and video. Organisers also recruit volunteers to support event operations.
