Manchester - The Bee's Knees Run
The Bee's Knees Run at Phoenix Manchester is a timed lap event held at Hardy Farm, Brookburn Road, along the River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park. The course is an out and back riverside towpath lap of 5.3 km (3.28 miles) with very little elevation change, making the overall route flat.
Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within the event time window; the minimum recorded distance is 3.28 miles. Distances available include a range from shorter runs up to ultramarathon distances, and all finishers receive a bespoke finishers medal and a handmade knitted bee as a keepsake. The organiser donates £2 from every entry to the Ray's of Sunshine Children's Charity.
A mandatory race brief is issued to participants in advance. The event provides a vegetarian aid station throughout the day with many vegan options and some gluten free items; examples include bananas, dates, sweets, crisps, cake, squash and cola. Participants with severe or life threatening allergies are advised to bring their own food because cross contamination cannot be ruled out.
Race HQ offers toilets and changing rooms. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come first served basis, with additional parking for up to 100 cars across the river at Sale Water Park approximately a 15 minute walk away, plus other public and paid parking near Chorlton Water Park.
