Manchester - The Bee's Knees Run
The Bee's Knees Run is a timed, lap-based event at Chorlton Water Park on the River Mersey. Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within a seven hour limit; completing one lap is recorded as a finish. The minimum recorded distance is 2.91 miles.
The course follows a riverside towpath on an off-road trail with very little elevation gain or loss, producing an overall flat route. A race brief is sent one week before the event and is mandatory reading for all participants.
Every participant receives a handmade knitted bee and a Phoenix finishers' medal. The organiser will donate £2 from every entry to Ray's of Sunshine Children's Charity. Both attended and virtual entries receive a giveaway medal or memento.
An all-day, vegetarian aid station is provided with many vegan and gluten free options, and typical items include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash, and full sugar cola. Participants with severe or life threatening allergies are asked to bring their own food due to possible cross-contamination.
Race headquarters at Hardy Farm offers toilets and changing rooms. On-site parking at Hardy Farm is available for 75 cars on a first come, first served basis, with additional parking for up to 100 cars across the river at Sale Water Park, about a 15 minute walk from the start.
