Event Overview
The River City Summer Slam is an annual multi-sport event returning for its fourth year. Presented by the Major Taylor Cycling Club of North Florida, the weekend features various cycling routes and a beach run. Course Information
The event offers three road cycling routes designed for different skill levels, plus a run and a fun ride for younger participants:
- Metric Century+ (65 miles)
- Half-Metric Century (37 miles)
- Sub-Quarter Century (22 miles)
- 5K Beach Run/Walk
- Kids Fun Ride
The cycling routes include fully stocked rest stops, on-course mobile support, and route markings. The 5K Beach Run/Walk is held on the Sunday morning of the event weekend behind the Navy Lodge.
Registration Details
Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt for those who register before the inventory cutoff date, and home delivery of event packets for early participants. Packets contain number bibs, safety pins, wristbands, and printed route documents. Participants without a military ID must provide specific identification details during registration to gain access to the naval station.
Weekend Schedule
The schedule extends over several days, featuring social and recreational activities. This includes a Friday kick-off ride on the Jacksonville-Baldwin Trail, followed by a meet-and-greet session. Saturday is the primary day for the cycling routes and kids ride, concluding with a group lunch and evening dinner. The event concludes Sunday with the recovery ride and the beach run.
