Event Details
The River City Summer Slam is a multi-day cycling and sports event presented by the Major Taylor Cycling Club of North Florida. The 2026 edition is the fourth annual event.
Event Location and Dates
The main event activities are based at Mayport Naval Station and the Navy Lodge in Jacksonville, Florida. The event takes place from Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Cycling Activities
The central activity is a weekend of cycling with three different road route options available:
- Metric Century+: Approximately 65 miles.
- Half-Metric Century: Approximately 37 miles.
- Sub-Quarter Century: Approximately 22 miles.
Other scheduled activities include a Friday kick-off ride, safety briefings, a Kids Fun Ride, and a Sunday recovery ride. On-course support includes stocked rest stops, route markings, and mobile support.
Additional Activities
The event includes more than just cycling. The weekend schedule features a golf event, participant check-in, a meet and greet, an after-ride lunch, a navy ship tour, and an evening dinner and entertainment with a "Harlem Nights" theme party.
Running Event
A separate 5K Beach Run/Walk is scheduled for Sunday morning. Registration for this event is listed separately.
Registration Information
Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt and event packet home delivery if registered by specified cutoff dates. Participants without an active military ID must provide specific information for base access. The event supports fundraising for organizations like the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society.
