Sombrero Sizzler
Sombrero Sizzler is a timed endurance event held in Jacksonville, FL on July 17, 2027, organized by Sombrero Running. Runners and ruckers complete laps on a 1.25 mile paved loop that is three quarters asphalt and one quarter concrete, with a short grassy section at the end. The course runs on the former Cecil Field military base, is described as pancake flat, and has minimal turns with five wide left turns. Pine trees line the loop and provide shade for portions of the course.
Race options include:
- 3 hours
- 6 hours, with a relay team option for four person teams (any gender), team limit 10
- 9 hours
- 12 hours
Rucking follows honor-system weight guidelines: women 10 lbs or more, men 20 lbs or more; common items such as plates, bricks, or sandbags are allowed. One main aid station at the start/finish pavilion will offer standard ultramarathon foods and Skratch Electrolyte. Grilled food will be available throughout the day, including breakfast items, burgers with vegan options, brats, Italian sausage, and bacon.
Awards include overall top three in each event, team division awards based on participation, and additional special awards. Each participant receives a custom medal; additional swag is to be determined. There are no refunds; unpaid entries that do not attend may be treated as donations.
