Rhinebeck Ferncliff Forest 5k Turkey Trot
The Rhinebeck Ferncliff Forest 5 km Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Rhinebeck, NY. The event supports Ferncliff Forest, a private preserve that receives no government funding and has been maintained since 1964. The organizer notes that the first 750 entries will receive a soft cotton T-shirt and that kids under 5 enter free. Strollers are allowed and well behaved dogs on a leash are permitted.
Course and event details
The course is an out-and-back on paved roads along Montgomery Street and Mt Rutsen Road from Astor Drive to Ferncliff Forest and back, with gentle rolling hills. The start line is just left of the church parking lot at The First Baptist Church, 9 Astor Drive, corner of Montgomery Street. Chip timing will be used. Results will be posted online at PRTiming.com as runners finish.
Participants are grouped by male and female age classes: under 10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Awards go to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three in each age group; all children under 10 receive an award. A separate donation raffle gives one entry for each $5 donated, with prizes from local businesses. Packet pick-up is available the night before at Rhinebeck Bagels and on race morning in the church hall. When passing another racer, participants are asked to announce their presence.
