The Family of New Paltz 5K Turkey Trot takes place on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in New Paltz, NY at Water Street Market (12561). The event is presented by New Paltz Healthy & Nutrition Center and Kniffen Homes. It is held on Thanksgiving morning to support the Family of New Paltz Food Pantry and Crisis Services. Family of New Paltz has operated in the community since 1975 and provides services such as a 24-hour hotline and new text line, a food pantry, counseling, support groups and shelters for adults, adolescents and victims of domestic violence.
Race details
The main distance is 5K run and walk with separate age categories for participants. The event includes the Mashed Potato Fun Run, free for children 12 and under. The 5K course is USATF certified and will use chip timing with a timed start and finish. Finish-line photos of individual runners will be available for upload at no cost. Age groups are set in ten-year increments, with medals awarded for first, second and third place in each age group and separate awards for male and female. Entry fees vary by age category.
