Event overview
The 11th Annual Resolution 5K and 1-Mile Run takes place on January 1, 2026 in Virginia Beach, VA. The event offers two distances:
- 1 mile
- 5K
Both races are presented by the Tidewater Striders and are part of the Tidewater Striders Running Grand Prix, Youth Grand Prix and Walkers Grand Prix.
Course, amenities and logistics
Both races use an out-and-back course on the boardwalk that starts and finishes at 24th Street Park. The 1-mile turnaround is at 17th Street and the 5K turnaround is at 2nd Street. There is one aid station with water at the 5K turnaround point. All registered runners for the 5K and mile receive a finisher medal and a custom race sweetshirt. Strollers are permitted.
Early packet pickup is available at Running Etc. in Virginia Beach on the two days before the race, and race day packet pickup is at the 24th Street Park stage. There is no race day registration. Strider Plus members must register and a club membership discount of $5 is available and applied at checkout.
Awards
5K awards include top 3 overall male and female, top 3 masters male and female, top 3 in listed age groups (12 & Under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+) and top 3 walkers male and female. 1-mile awards include top 3 overall male and female and top 3 male and female in age groups (6 & Under; 7-9; 10-12; 13 & Over).
