k5k: A Run for Kendra
The k5k is a 5K run and walk held annually to raise money for a scholarship fund that supports college students who have lost a parent to cancer and who display qualities associated with the event's honoree. The 2026 edition is the 14th annual event and takes place on November 21, 2026, with both an in-person option on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and a virtual option for remote participation.
Registration opens June 26, 2026 and closes October 31, 2026. The published registration fee is $35. Virtual participants may post results during the month of November and receive instructions on how to submit those results. The event has awarded more than $155,000 in scholarships to date.
