Red Rose Run
The Red Rose Run is an annual 5-mile road race through Lancaster City and County Park that attracts over a thousand participants. The event includes a kids fun run of approximately one half mile and a wheelchair race, and this edition marks the 50th running.
The course combines urban streets and rolling park hills and begins and ends at Ewell Plaza and Binns Park in downtown Lancaster. The published route travels north on Queen Street, east on Lemon Street, south on Duke Street, west on Chesapeake Street, crosses a bridge over the Conestoga River, continues on Rockford Road, then returns through Duke Street, Walnut Street, and back to Queen Street for the finish.
Awards and prizes are offered across multiple categories, with overall awards for male, female, and non-binary competitors, podium places for the kids fun run, a best 1970s costume prize, and a special bonus for competitors who break course records. Total prize money for the event exceeds $27,000. Participants may opt not to select a gender at registration; those who do will not be eligible for awards.
Race registration includes a race bib, a collectible water bottle for the first 1700 runners, post-race refreshments, and a race medal. Special edition 50th anniversary merchandise and a wristband for a themed beer garden are available as add-ons. Parking is available at nearby garages and select streets will have early morning closures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
