Red Rose Run
The Red Rose Run marks the 50th running of a city road race that travels through Downtown Lancaster and County Park. The event is based at Ewell Plaza and Binns Park on the 100 block of North Queen Street in Lancaster, PA, and brings more than a thousand participants to the area.
Distances and divisions include:
- 5-mile race through Lancaster City and County Park
- Kids fun run approximately 1/2 mile
- Wheelchair race
The course uses a mix of urban streets and rolling park hills and follows a route that passes Queen Street, Lemon Street, Duke Street, Chesapeake Street, a bridge over the Conestoga River, Rockford Road, and Walnut Street before returning to Queen Street for the finish. The start and finish are located at Ewell Plaza.
Awards and event features include over $27,000 in prize money, a $1,977 prize for a new course record, podium awards for overall and non binary categories, and a best 1970s costume prize provided by the City of Lancaster. Registration items include a race bib, a collectible water bottle, post-race refreshments, and a race medal. Special edition 50th anniversary shirts and other collectible merchandise are offered, and a wristband gives access to a 1970s themed beer garden for registrants.
Parking is available at Prince Street Garage, Queen Street Garage, and Steinman Park Garage. Some downtown streets are closed for the event, and spectator viewing is concentrated around Ewell Plaza and the finish hill. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
