Event Overview
The Red Fern Festival 5k is a running event held as part of the 18th annual Red Fern Festival in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The festival celebrates the novel Where the Red Fern Grows, which is set in the local Ozark hills. The festival itself spans seven blocks and features over 150 arts and crafts vendors, gourmet food trucks, inflatables, petting zoos, and live music.
Race Details
The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- Fun Run
The 5k and Fun Run share the same start time on the evening of Friday, April 24. The race will use a new course for this year, starting and finishing at The FIT (NSU Fitness Center). The finish line is located just a few blocks from the heart of the Red Fern Festival at Norris Park. The 5k is a chip-timed race, and medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each five-year male and female age group. Participants are encouraged to run with dogs.
