Trail of Honor Memorial Run - Fort Gibson
The Trail of Honor Memorial Run is the seventh annual event held in Fort Gibson on May 22, 2027. The Fort Gibson American Legion and Trail of Honor Flags Inc. organize a 5K race and a 1 mile fun run/walk to support a permanent Trail of Honor flag display and to honor veterans and active duty service members.
Trail of Honor Flags Inc. was founded in 2019 to continue the work of volunteers who placed temporary flags along Highway 62 and Wiley Road leading to the National Memorial Cemetery. The long-term goal is to install 300 flagpoles, each flying a 5x8 American flag, and proceeds from the event help fund that permanent installation.
Participants may choose during registration whether to carry an American flag while running. The course is USATF certified and race timing is provided by I:40 Race Service. T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by May 8; entries after May 9 are served first come, first served for shirts.

Registration fees vary by date. A pre-sale period lists $20 for the Fun Run and $25 for the 5K. Later fees listed include Fun Run $25 then $30, and 5K $30 then $35, depending on registration dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
