DOGSPEED - A benefit event for animals in need
DOGSPEED on June 20, 2026 is a 12-hour, come and go community run or walk held at 530 N. Oak Ave, Tahlequah, OK, starting and finishing on the front lawn of the Northeastern State University Fitness Center. The course is a roughly one mile loop; one lap is approximately 1.05 miles. The event is untimed and participants record the number of laps they complete.
The event combines a fundraising goal with community activities. Organizers request a registration fee of $5 plus a donation of dog or cat food or pet supplies. The $5 fee covers event costs; any funds or donations beyond that go to the Humane Society of Cherokee County. Registration opens February 1, 2026 and closes June 2, 2026.
On-site features listed by the organizer include games, prizes, snacks and food (burgers, hotdogs, chips, candy, cookies), drinks, shade, ice baths, treats for pets, a 16 foot inflatable water slide, and adoptable animals from the Humane Society of Cherokee County. Past results cited by the organizer note that the prior event raised about $1,000 in cash and over $1,000 in food, and some participants logged high mileage over the event day.
