Pups & Pastries is a community running event at WakeMed Soccer Park that supports Second Chance Pet Adoptions. The event offers in-person and virtual options across several distances and includes dog friendly Doggie Dash options for runners who register their dogs. A $10 dog fee is collected for each participating dog and is donated to Second Chance Pet Adoptions. Only one dog per registered runner is allowed and dogs must remain on leashes. Dogs are permitted only in the Doggie Dash 5K and Doggie Dash 6.5 Mile. Children 12 and younger are not allowed in the Doggie Dash races.
Registration for main distances includes a Pups & Pastries shirt and a finishers medal for 5K and 6.5 Mile participants, and a finishers medal for Fun Mile participants when registered by the stated deadline. The event publishes course records at WakeMed Soccer Park, including 5K times of 18:52 for male and 20:05 for female, and 6.5 Mile times of 42:18 for male and 49:04 for female. The event also features awards and prize categories for overall and age group finishers, and offers RaceJoy tracking features for live GPS progress alerts and virtual result submission.
If participant totals for the in-person and virtual 5K and 6.5 Mile reach a specified threshold, a random drawing will award one male and one female participant a year of entries to Fit & Able races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
