Birds of a Feather Trail Trot : Briar Chapel, Chapel Hill, NC
Birds of a Feather Trail Trot is a Thanksgiving Day trail running event held at Great Meadow Park in Briar Chapel, Chapel Hill, NC on November 26, 2026. The event offers timed races and an untimed fun run, with a capped field to limit trail congestion.
Distances
- 2 Mile (2.04 mi): paved, grass, and smooth trail sections; elevation gain 134'.
- 5K (3.38 mi / 5.4K): double- and single-track trails with roots and rocks; elevation gain 217'.
- 10K (6.2 mi): extended trail loop with roots, rocks, and hills; elevation gain 378'.
Course and support details are provided for each distance, including technical terrain ratings. The 2 Mile includes one aid station at 1.03 mile; the 5K has one aid station at 1.8 miles; the 10K has three aid stations at about 1.8M, 3.1M, and 5.0M. All courses are marked and medical support is available. Chip timing is used for timed races; the 2 Mile fun run is untimed.
Family and event features include a FREE Kids Race for Treasure for children 11 and under, age-specific race rules and minimum ages, post-race pie, an awards ceremony with contests and giveaways, a race tee, and free post-race photos. Strollers appropriate for trails are permitted only in the 2 Mile fun run; strollers and pets are not allowed on the 5K or 10K. Each timed race is limited to 175 participants and the event total is capped at 600. The charity partner is PORCH Briar Chapel; the organizer will match 10% of funds collected.
