Preston Fast 5 Road Race
The Preston Fast 5 Road Race is a dedicated speed event held at the University of Lancashire Sports Arena in Preston. The competition takes place on a flat, traffic-free cycle track measuring one mile in length. Participants complete three laps on this course, which is accurately measured and features no tight corners to help maintain a consistent pace.
Organized by Preston Harriers, this event is part of a series of four Wednesday evening races held during the spring and early summer. The race is designed as a no-frills event focused on providing runners with an opportunity to record fast times. There are no prizes awarded for placement.
The event is split into two distinct categories based on predicted finishing times:
- 5 km (Race 1: Target time under 18:00 minutes)
- 5 km (Race 2: Target time over 18:00 minutes)
Registration is limited to 60 participants per race. The minimum age for entry is 16 years old. Participants can collect their race numbers on-site on the day of the event. The University of Lancashire Sports Arena provides toilet facilities for runners. Pre-entry is required as there are no registrations accepted on the day of the race.
