Preston Fast 5
The Preston Fast 5 is a new race series for 2026 offering a measured 5 km road race on the University of Lancashire Sports Arena cycle track in Preston. The event is presented as an opportunity for runners to record a fast 5K time on a closed, traffic free road.
The course covers just over three laps of the cycle track, using a one mile lap with no sharp turns or bends. The organiser holds four Wednesday evening races across spring and early summer on the following dates: 22 April 2026, 20 May 2026, 17 June 2026 and 15 July 2026. Each evening includes two separate races, one for runners aiming under 18 minutes and one for runners aiming over 18 minutes. The minimum age on race day is 16 years.
Entry is online only via SiEntries, with entries closing on the Monday evening before each race and no entries accepted on the day. There is no series entry; each race must be entered individually. Entry limits apply with a maximum of 60 runners per race. Entry fees listed are £7 for club affiliated runners and £9 for unaffiliated runners. Race results and free race photos are published after each event and results are submitted to British Athletics Power of 10. The course holds a certificate of course accuracy and the event runs under a race licence. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
