Horwich Triathlon & Multisport
Horwich Triathlon and Multisport takes place in Horwich near Bolton and combines pool swimming, road cycling and road running with new off-road Pike Trail Runs. The event includes sprint and standard distances across triathlon, duathlon, aquabike and aquathlon formats, plus two trail run distances around Rivington Pike.
The sprint and standard swim legs use a 25 metre pool at Horwich Leisure Centre. Sprint swimmers complete 16 lengths for 400m and standard swimmers complete 20 lengths for 500m, each allocated a lane and a set start time. Bike courses use quiet Lancashire roads around Rivington Pike and are described as undulating with rolling climbs and fast descents. Run legs are on closed roads in out-and-back formats: the sprint run is 5km and the standard run is 8.4km.
Pike Trail Runs are off-road routes on local trails with climbs and varied terrain, offered at 5km and 8.6km.
Entry benefits listed for competitors include aid stations, course support, electronic timing, a custom finishers medal, fully signed routes, free parking and free photos.
