Horwich 'Kona of the North' Triathlon, Multisport & Trail Runs 2026
This event takes place in Horwich, Great Britain on 3 May 2026 at Horwich Leisure Centre, Victoria Road. It is known as "The Race To The Pike" and "Kona of the North" and is one of the oldest triathlon events in the North West, dating back over 25 years. Epic Events organises the event and provides race timing.
Race formats include triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, aquabike and trail runs. The standard triathlon uses a pool swim and finishes with a run to the summit of Rivington Pike; the sprint follows the same route but avoids the summit.
Distances and key formats:
- Standard triathlon: 500 m pool swim, 40 km cycle, 8.6 km run to Rivington Pike
- Sprint triathlon: 400 m pool swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run without summit
- Full Pike trail race: 8.6 km
- Half Pike trail race: 5 km
British Triathlon membership or a single-use Race Pass is required for triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and aquabike entries; no race pass is required for the trail races. Entry fees vary by discipline and category (examples: triathlon solo £59/£69; relay teams £89/£99). Entries close at noon on the Friday before the event or when the event fills.
