Pleasant Valley 5K Run/Walk, Aquathlon Challenge, and Dog Swim
The event takes place at the Pleasant Valley Pool in Chantilly, Virginia. It includes an in-person 5K run/walk, an aquathlon that pairs a pool swim with a 5K run, a virtual 5K option, and an afternoon dog swim open to dogs from outside the neighborhood.
The 5K course is paved, described as rolling with a few moderate hills, and routes through the Cub Run neighborhood and the Flat Lick Stream Valley / Cub Run nature trail before returning to the pool. There are no time limits on the 5K course; walkers and runners are welcome. In the aquathlon participants begin with a 125 meter snake swim in the Pleasant Valley Pool, then transition to the same scenic 5K run. Participants are seeded for the aquathlon based on swim speed at registration.
Virtual participants may run a 5K at a location of their choosing and submit results online; virtual entries receive a race shirt that will be mailed after the event. The dog swim is a dogs-only pool session with no lifeguards on duty; photos and optional shirts are part of the dog swim offering. All proceeds from this all-volunteer event support the Pleasant Valley Recreation Association for capital improvements on the pool. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
