Pleasant Valley 5K Run/Walk, Aquathlon Challenge, and Dog Swim
This community event takes place at the Pleasant Valley Pool in Chantilly, Virginia (4347 Cub Run Road). The program includes a pool swim plus run aquathlon, a stand alone 5K run/walk, a virtual 5K option, and an afternoon dog swim.
The Aquathlon begins with a 125 m snake swim in the Pleasant Valley Pool followed by a scenic 5K run through the Pleasant Valley and Cub Run neighborhood and along the Flat Lick Stream Valley/Cub Run nature trail. The 5K course is paved and described as rolling with a few moderate hills. There are no time limits on the 5K course and walkers are welcome. Participants receive a race shirt, post event water and snacks, and online result submission is available with self reported finish times; organizers will perform best effort timing. Virtual entrants receive a mailed race shirt approximately up to two weeks after the event.
The dog swim is an afternoon dogs only pool swim. Lifeguards will not be present for human swimmers during the dog swim. The dog swim includes optional shirts and event photos.
Registration for the run, aquathlon, and virtual 5K opens April 18, 2026 and closes August 23, 2026. Dog swim registration opens April 11, 2026 and closes September 12, 2026. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $40 for run, aquathlon, and virtual entries and $5 for the dog swim. Proceeds support the Pleasant Valley Recreation Association and partner charities including Western Fairfax Christian Ministries Food Pantry and the Major Lucas Legacy Foundation.
