Reston Triathlon overview
The Reston Triathlon is a multi-sport event held in Reston, Virginia, at 2070 Twin Branches Road. The Olympic-distance format includes a 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon, a 25-mile bike ride and a 10K run on local paths. The event has been held since 1984.
Event formats and distances include:
- Reston Triathlon - 55.83K (1500 m swim, 25 mi bike, 10K run)
- Reston Aquabike - 45.83K (1500 m swim, 25 mi bike)
- Olympic Relay - 55.83K (4K run followed by bike)
In 2021 the previous board announced it could no longer financially or logically sustain the event. CORE Foundation worked with that board to restore the race and the event returned with a comeback edition on September 10, 2023. CORE Foundation acknowledges support from local athletes and the community.
