The Reston Triathlon is an Olympic distance triathlon held in Reston, Virginia, at Lake Audubon and the surrounding local paths. The course combines open water swimming, road cycling and a run on local pathways.
- 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon
- 25-mile bike ride
- 10K run on local paths
The event listing includes three formats: the Reston Triathlon, Reston Aquabike, and an Olympic Relay. Entry is open to athletes aged 15 and older according to the event information for recent editions. The 2026 edition is scheduled for September 20, 2026.
The triathlon has a long history dating to 1984. After the previous board announced it could no longer sustain the event in 2021, the CORE Foundation worked with that board to revive the race. The event returned in 2023 and has continued under CORE Foundation management, with funds from the events used to assist the local community.
Awards are given for overall finishers and across multiple age group categories, plus category awards such as Athena female and Clydesdale male. Relay awards include top mixed, female and male teams. The organizer maintains a no refund and no deferral policy and operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
