Pinkathon Challenge for Breast Cancer
The Pinkathon is a combined virtual and in-person event held on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The in-person gathering meets near the north end of the San Francisco Ferry Building, by the outdoor patio of Gott’s Roadside. The virtual challenge can be completed anywhere during the month of October 2026.
The event is organized as a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with a stated fundraising goal of $50,000 by December 31, 2026. Registration is handled online, with a listed registration fee of $25; online donations and personal fundraising pages are accepted. Organizers state that most registration fees and 100% of donations made through the event links go directly to the charity. Voluntary donations in any amount are encouraged.
This is an unsanctioned, do-it-yourself run/walk that follows a "fat ass" format: no official timing, no awards, no aid stations, and no trail markings for most longer courses. Only the 5K, 10K, and Pink Ribbon Trail will be marked with chalk. Downloadable maps and turn-by-turn directions are provided and include locations of drinking fountains and bathrooms. Touchless check-in via the RunSignup app is used. The event offers a raffle and gear bag storage.
Health guidance notes that face coverings are optional in the start/finish area and inside the Ferry Building, and participants are asked to avoid overcrowding. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
