Oakland Hills Trail Run
The Oakland Hills Trail Run takes place on October 24, 2026 at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, California. The event offers three measured trail distances and a mix of technical dirt singletrack and non technical fire roads across the park's redwood groves, chaparral, and grasslands.
- 35K : 22.8 miles, 4,550' elevation gain
- Half Marathon : 13.3 miles, 2,900' elevation gain
- 10K : 6.2 miles, 1,250' elevation gain
The event is limited to 330 total participants and uses professional chip timing with disposable chips attached to the back of each bib. The course is marked with colored ribbon placed approximately every 200 meters; blue ribbons indicate wrong way. Hiking poles are permitted. Aid stations provide a range of foods and drinks such as energy gels, Stroop waffles, trail mix, potatoes with salt, Coke, Skratch Labs hydration mix, and first aid supplies. Runners are expected to carry their own cup or bottle because the event is cupless; reusable cups and 500 ml soft flasks are available for purchase at the event. Drop bag service is not offered.
Parking is available at the Chabot Space and Science Center in the Oakland Hills. Dogs on leash are permitted in the park and may accompany runners if started from the back of the pack. Awards include trophies for the top three overall finishers by gun time, age group awards by chip time, medals for all finishers, and a custom award for the dead last finisher.
