Oakland Hills Trail Run
The Oakland Hills Trail Run takes place October 24, 2026 at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, California. The event offers multiple trail race distances and is set in a forest of tall coast redwoods within a 1,830 acre park that also contains chaparral, grasslands, and diverse wildlife.
Available distances
- 35K 22.8 miles, 4,550' elevation gain
- Half 13.3 miles, 2,900' elevation gain
- 10K 6.2 miles, 1,250' elevation gain
Most of the routes run on technical dirt trails and non-technical fire roads. Courses are marked with colored ribbon, laminated signs, and flour arrows at critical sections. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Detailed maps, turn-by-turn directions, aid station distances and elevation profiles are provided for each course.
Aid stations supply a range of energy foods, drinks, electrolytes and basic first aid items. This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Organizers recommend carrying at least one 20 oz bottle and note that drop bag service is not available.
Timing uses disposable chips attached to the back of bib numbers. Parking is available at the Chabot Space and Science Center. The event has a total capacity of 330 runners. Race finishers receive a custom medal and overall and age-group awards are presented. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
