Bearathlon 2026
Bearathlon takes place on October 24, 2026 at the Berkeley Marina in Berkeley, California. The event includes individual and team triathlon races with Collegiate and Age Group divisions and Open Age Group options.
Race formats and typical distances:
- Draft-Legal Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Classic Sprint (non-draft legal): 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Classic Sprint Relay: team of three, each performs one leg (swim 750 m, bike 20 km, or run 5 km)
- Mixed Team Relay: team of four, each completes a super sprint triathlon (swim 250 m, bike 5 km, run 1 km)
Entry fees vary by event. Registration is open through race day. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Berkeley Sports Basement (2727 Milvia St.) and on race morning at the Berkeley Marina.
Equipment and race rules notes: draft-legal events require road bikes only; aero bars and time trial bikes are not permitted. No mirrors or glass of any kind are allowed on bikes. For mixed team relays, draft-legal rules apply and the lap-out rule will not be enforced, so lapped athletes may continue to finish. Water temperature is expected to be around 60°F and wetsuits are recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
