Pequot Runners Thanksgiving Day Race
The Pequot Runners Thanksgiving Day Race is an annual road race in Fairfield County that began as a small club run in 1978 and has continued for nearly five decades. The event brings together runners, walkers, and families and serves as the largest fundraiser of the year for Pequot Runners, with proceeds donated to local non profits focused on youth development, community health, and human services.
Courses wind through the historic neighborhoods of Southport and Fairfield. Distances offered include:
- 5-Mile Run USATF certified course with rolling hills
- 2.6-Mile Walk flat scenic loop suitable for families and strollers
Registration for the 2025 edition opens September 11, 2025. Packet pickup is available at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, 385 Center Street, Southport, on the days before the race and there is also pickup on race day.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three finishers in each age group. The finish area features post race refreshments, music, and a community atmosphere.
