OUTLAST RALEIGH
OUTLAST is a 6-hour trail endurance challenge held in Knightdale, NC at 8521 Buffaloe Rd. Runners complete a 5K loop every hour; each lap must be finished within the hour to remain in the event. If a participant misses a lap, they are removed from further rounds. Completing all six rounds results in an overall finish and ranking.
The course is trail-based with natural terrain, elevation, and variable conditions; some sections may include pavement or gravel. The event is cupless: aid at the basecamp/loop start provides water, basic hydration, and snacks, but participants must bring their own bottle or hydration system. Between laps there is time to recover, refuel, and prepare for the next hour. Tent setups are allowed at basecamp, but no stakes are permitted.
Awards and recognition are tied to laps completed and combined times. Participants who complete four laps receive a “Grit Earned” patch; five laps earn a “Survivor” patch; six laps earn a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. The fastest combined 5K times by division earn local wins and placement on a world leaderboard. The top overall performer across all OUTLAST 6-hour events receives a $1,000 prize. Top finishers from each city qualify for the Outlast World Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where additional cash prizes are awarded.
