Orcas Island 100 Miler
The Orcas Island 100 Miler is a trail running event in Olga, Washington, held at Camp Moran in Moran State Park. The course is four repeated loops of 25 miles each, totaling 100 miles, with approximately 26,000 ft of elevation gain and a 36 hour race cutoff. The route runs on mostly single-track trail through old-growth forest and includes steep climbs and views of surrounding islands, mountains, and Puget Sound. Weather can vary from rain to snow to sun.
The race uses 15 aid stations, each stocked with water, gels, electrolyte drink, fruit, hot soup/broth and other foods; drop bags are permitted at the aid stations. Crews are allowed at most aid stations with specific restrictions by lap; pacers are permitted beginning after the first 25-mile loop and must follow rules about not carrying or providing aid except at aid stations. A Tower Club option records a runner’s climb to the top of Mt Constitution on each loop; those who complete it on all four loops receive a special award. All runners receive a hoodie and all finishers receive a brass belt buckle.
Entrants must meet a qualifying requirement from prior trail races and must complete a day of trail work or submit a minimum donation as an alternative. Access to the island requires ferry travel and reservations. The event emphasizes loop-based aid and community interaction at the Camp Moran start/finish base.
