Moran Constitutional Relay
The Moran Constitutional Relay is a 70-mile, 12-leg team relay held at Moran State Park on Orcas Island on 09/19/2026. Teams may have two to six runners. The relay is staged over two days: the first eight legs run on Saturday and the final four legs on Sunday. Registration is limited to the first 50 teams. Each team is asked to provide a volunteer or pay a $195 volunteer fee. Registration includes an event tech t-shirt, a finisher award for teams that complete the full course, and meals (Friday light dinner; Saturday breakfast and dinner; Sunday breakfast and post-race meal). Onsite cabins and campsites are available; a two-night cabin package is offered at $59 per person with an optional extra night for $35.
Course, rules, and distances
The course uses park trails that are mostly well-groomed and non-technical, with a few moderately technical sections. Leg profiles vary: some have substantial climbs or descents, others are flatter. Routes are marked and each runner must check in at start or exchange zones before running. Teams are allowed two vehicles for exchange logistics. Runners on the course during darkness must carry a headlamp or flashlight. Cellular coverage in the park is spotty. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
