Event Overview
The Onslow Community Outreach-Moore Buick GMC Turkey Trot is a running event held on Thanksgiving Day. It takes place at 100 Recreation Lane in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The event supports the Onslow Community Outreach Christmas Cheer program, which provides meals and gifts to families during the holiday season.
Events
The event features three main race options:
- OCO Turkey Trot 5K "ish": A 5-kilometer run.
- OCO Giblet 1 Miler: A 1-mile run.
- Extra Servings Challenge: A combination where participants run both the 1 Miler and the 5K.
All registered finishers of the 5K and 1-Miler receive a commemorative medal. Awards are given for the fastest male and female overall in the 5K, and for the first-place finisher in various age groups. Challenge participants receive three medals.
Event Details
Packet pickup is available the day before the event and on race morning at the venue. The games area opens at 6:30 AM on race day. The 1-Miler starts at 8:00 AM, followed by the 5K at 8:30 AM. Awards presentations begin at 9:30 AM. Pets on leashes and strollers are permitted on the course; participants with them are asked to start at the back of the pack. Day-of-race registration is available if space permits.
Community Engagement
The event includes a toy drive, encouraging participants to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. A race shirt is available for separate purchase. The event proceeds go directly to support the Christmas Cheer program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
