Oak Ridge Qualifier: Half and Full Marathon
The event takes place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Oak Ridge, TN at 22 N. Jefferson Circle. It includes two races:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The race fields are capped at 50 total participants on a first-entered, first-allowed basis. Some exceptions to the cap may be possible by contacting the race director. The organizer notes this is not recommended as a first marathon event.
Course and race details
The Marathon is an out-and-back on the Oak Ridge Turnpike with a bike lane/shoulder and under 600 ft total elevation gain. The Half Marathon is a point-to-point on the same turnpike with a bike lane/shoulder and under 400 ft total elevation gain; a shuttle after the half is required and is not provided. The Marathon is USATF certified (code TN21010MS) and both courses are certified for age-group, national, regional, or qualifying standards.
Aid stations are located at Miles 3, 7 and 11 outbound, and at Miles 15, 19 and 23 for the Marathon. The event is described as low key with no shirts, no awards, and no amenities. Participants should expect light traffic on the turnpike (the outside lane will not be closed) and must plan for road sharing and no headphones. Runners are advised to use bright clothing or strobe lights for visibility during low-light portions of the course. Cut-off times are under 2:00 for the Half and under 4:00 for the Full Marathon.
