NSRF The Watermelon 5K Blydenburgh
The event is a community 5K held on July 26, 2026 at Blydenburgh County Park Campground Playground in Hauppauge, New York. The route uses a mixture of pavement, dirt roads, and hard packed trails that can be driven by a vehicle. Bathrooms are a few minutes' walk from the start and finish, and porto-johns will be located near the finish line.
Refreshments and postrace items are provided, including watermelon slices, items from All Round Foods, and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Hydration is provided at the finish area. An informal bag check area will be available in the staging area; staff do not assume responsibility for personal belongings.
Registration options include an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K with a one week window for logging times and uploading photos. Participants may request bib mailing for an additional fee if they register in advance. Purchase protection is offered as an optional paid service.
Parking guidance is provided for participants, with a primary lot near Picnic Areas 1-5 and additional parking at the boat launch and other park lots. There is also parking across the street at the Dennison Building with a short walk to the start.
