Nissequogue River State Park Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk
The event takes place on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026, at Nissequogue River State Park in Kings Park, NY (Charles & Helen Reichert Administration Building, 799 St Johnland Rd., 11754). It offers on-site and virtual participation options and includes a short untimed kids event.
Distances:
- 5K Run/Walk, in-person or virtual
- 1K Kids Turkey Trot, untimed, for ages 12 and under
Event features include an emcee, DJ, and other entertainment. Walkers, wheelchairs, and strollers are welcome and are asked to start at the back for safety. Pets on leash are permitted and should also start at the back. Pre-registered runners receive a t-shirt; the first 1,550 registrants are guaranteed a shirt. Personalized bibs are available for those who register at least three weeks before race day. Virtual participants may upload times and photos during the posted virtual window.
Awards include cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers and a masters award, a cash prize for best Thanksgiving costume, and age-group recognition in five year brackets from 14 and under through 80 plus. The 1K kids event provides ribbons to all participants. Day-of check-in and early check-in locations are provided at the park administration building.
