Great Pumpkin Dash Trail 5K : Blydenburgh County Park
The event is a trail 5K run/walk held on October 11, 2026 at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, NY. The route is scenic and shaded, composed of dirt roads and hard-packed trails with a few sandy spots. The course is described as not overly technical; strollers and wagons are not permitted. A free Kiddie Dash is offered as a separate Youth activity on the same day.
Amenities include an informal bag check area, park bathrooms within a few minutes' walk of the start and finish, hydration at the finish line, and postrace refreshments provided by local vendors. All in-person participants receive a Great Pumpkin Dash trail tee. Virtual participants may register for a virtual 5K window from October 11 to October 18 and can upload times and up to five photos; virtual entries may include a mailed bib and shirt when selected.
Parking guidance notes primary parking at Picnic Areas 1-5 reached from the Veteran's Highway entrance, with additional parking near the boat launch and at the dog park. Bib mailing is available for an added fee if requested at least 10 days before the event. A portion of event proceeds benefits the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports athletic and community programs.
