Event Overview

The Not a Walk in the Park 5K is a community run/walk organized by the Saugus Family YMCA. It takes place at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus, Massachusetts. The event is part of the YMCA of Metro North Road Race Series.

The course goes through Breakheart Reservation. The start and finish are at 177 Forest Street in Saugus.

Registration and Fees

Standard registration is $30, with the price increasing after March 11, 2026. A new "Family Rate" allows four participants from the same household to register together for $100.

Event Features

Registration includes post-race refreshments. The event uses chip timing by Bay State Race Services. Awards are given to the top finishers in each age group. A race t-shirt is guaranteed for those who register before April 4, 2026.

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at the Saugus Family YMCA (298 Main Street, Saugus) from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, as well as on race day.

Charity

All proceeds from the event support the YMCA of Metro North Annual Fund. This fund provides access to YMCA child care, camp, and health and wellness programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
