Stop the Stigma 5K
The Stop the Stigma 5K is an in-person athletic event hosted by Interfaith Social Services. Held at The Kennedy Center in North Quincy, Massachusetts, the event serves as a fundraiser for the New Directions Counseling Center. This center provides mental health services and addiction support, specifically focusing on uninsured and underinsured community members through a sliding scale payment system.
Participants can choose to complete the course in the following ways:
- 5 km run or walk
The route takes participants through the Squantum neighborhood, offering a scenic path for all attendees. The event is open to various age groups and is designed to be inclusive, as the course is both stroller and dog friendly.
Registration fees are structured based on age and the date of sign-up. Children aged five or younger can participate for free, while there are specific rates for participants aged 6 to 12 and those aged 13 and older. To ensure receiving an event t-shirt, participants must complete their registration by March 27. The event focuses on supporting individuals with mental illness or addiction, challenging stereotypes, and promoting acceptance within the community.
