The event is a fundraiser for the Northwestern High School cross country team and the Trojan Club. Both races use the school's Cross Country Course, which is run primarily on grass and includes parts of the ATC, Northwestern, and Rawlinson Road Middle School. The kids fun run covers roughly the first and last half mile of the course and shares the same start and finish area as the 5K.
The 5K is open to all ages, will be chip timed, and results will be posted on RunSignUp. The 5K includes awards for the top three male and top three female finishers, overall winners names will be added to a plaque in the Athletic Office, and age group awards are planned for standard age categories from 12 and under up to 70 to 99. An alumni division will have overall awards and may expand to additional places depending on entries. A water station is located just past the halfway point on the 5K course.
The 1 Mile Fun Run is for children 12 and under; all finishers receive a medal. Parents may accompany children without registering unless they wish to purchase a race shirt. 5K registrants who sign up by November 8 will receive a shirt; later registrants receive shirts while supplies last.
Packet pickup and late registration will be available at the Charlotte Running Company in Riverwalk on Friday November 20 from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Race day packet pickup and registration are available in the morning until 8:45 am, with payment by credit card cash or check accepted on race day and cash or check on Friday. Checks should be made payable to the Northwestern Trojan Club.
A race day expo will feature snacks water sponsors and vendors near the finish area, and a school wide canned food drive will collect nonperishable items for the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
