Event Overview
The Northwestern Trojan Turkey Trot is a community running event held at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The race serves as a fundraiser for the Northwestern Cross Country team and the Trojan Club, which supports student-athletes across various sports at the school. The event takes place on the Northwestern Cross Country Course, featuring a route primarily on grass that spans parts of the ATC, Northwestern, and Rawlinson Road Middle School.
Race Categories
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 5K: A chip-timed race open to participants of all ages.
- 1 Mile Fun Run: A non-timed event specifically for children aged 12 and under.
The 5K includes a water station positioned just past the halfway point. For the 1 Mile Fun Run, the course covers the first and last half mile of the main cross-country course and shares the same start and finish line as the 5K. Parents are permitted to accompany their children in the fun run without paying a registration fee.
Participation Details
All finishers of the kids fun run receive a medal upon crossing the finish line. In the 5K, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers, with the overall winners' names added to a plaque in the school's Athletic Office. Age group awards are also provided for categories ranging from 12 and under to 70-99. An alumni division is available for Northwestern graduates, with awards for top male and female finishers.
The event site includes a race day expo with snacks, water, and vendor booths. Participants are also encouraged to contribute to a school-wide canned food drive by bringing nonperishable food items to support the local community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
