Norfolk Festival Of Running
Norfolk Festival of Running takes place at Bawsey Country Park, PE32 1EP, located on the B1145 between the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Gayton. The event offers multiple measured distances run as laps on a course that includes sand, gravel and grass sections. The organisers describe the course as a trail event and recommend road trainers while noting that trail shoes may be useful depending on recent weather.
Distances offered include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
Lap formats are used for longer distances: the heavy half marathon is set as five laps with the option to extend to six or seven laps on the day, while the standard ultra is nine laps with the option to increase up to 12 laps if time allows. The event provides an aid station at the start/lap point on every lap. There is a six hour event cut off and a separate four hour cut off for the later start.
On the day, the start area is visible from the main car park and registration is at the event base to collect bib numbers. There is no baggage facility so participants are asked to keep belongings in their vehicles; the course passes the car park each lap. The event has gone cupless so participants should bring their own cup or bottle to refill. Parking is included in the cost and a parking code must be collected before departure. Virtual entries for the medal are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
